KURDISH CARPET FROM NORTHEAST PERSIA

A beautiful tribal carpet woven by a Kurdish weaver from the Khorasan area of northeast Persia. A diamond-shaped lattice fills the main field of the carpet. Snowflake-shaped flowers fill each slot of the lattice. Note the interesting change in colours in the top section of the carpet, an endearing feature caused by variations in dye colours, or abrash, formed since the wool was dyed in small batches that never matched with each other. Three narrow borders frame the field; two are decorated with mountain peaks and one with abstract rosettes. Soft fleecy wool and beautiful dyes.

There is a black fabric sleeve sown on the back of the carpet in case it is desired to be hung
