CAUCASIAN CARPET

An unusual Caucasian long carpet drawn on an elegant brick red field which is completely covered with shield-shaped flowers in various colours, seemingly placed randomly across the entire field. A bold undyed ivory hued border frames the field on three sides. The border is adorned with stacked floral shapes adapted from the famous Memling gul motif that was popular in old Caucasian weavings and derived from 15th-century Renaissance painter, Hans Memling). Lovely colours and soft wool.

There is a black fabric sleeve sown on the back of the carpet in case it is desired to be hung
