FOREWORD

Words are limited to the meaning and the mood of the conversation. Paintings too are limited in many ways but have a life longer than the mood and a meaning far more expansive. Ram Kumar always relied on painting over words as his medium of expression.

We have tried to focus on an important aspect of Ram Kumar’s contribution to Modern Indian Art through his works on paper which we have been acquiring his over time. Working with Ram Kumar and Utpal Verma to put together this publication and exhibition has been both enjoyable and inspiring. We thank them both for their help and support.
