A classic ring centring on an old European cut diamond set to a two-tier surround of calibre-cut rubies and full-cut diamonds with milgrain openwork, mounted in gold.

OLD EUROPEAN CUT DIAMONDS

Before the introduction of machinery in jewellery-making, precious stones such as diamonds were polished and shaped by hand. Old European Cut diamonds are some of the most recognised forms of manually done diamond cuts. Developed during the early 1900s, these diamonds came with an almost round shape, a steep crown, and a small table size. Old European Cut diamonds offer a uniquely vintage charm that often resemble Edwardian and Victorian jewellery of the past and are regarded as the predecessor of the modern Brilliant Cut.
