Tips for using auction | |
1. Do I need to refresh the page to see the latest bids on any page?NO. When you are logged in, all bidding-related values (such as the current bid and countdown clock) and status messages (such as "You've been outbid"), refresh automatically every few seconds (the refresh interval is specified near the top of each page). The exception to this is pop-ups such as 'Additional Charges', 'Bid History' and 'Next 5 Valid Bids', which show the latest values when opened, but do not refresh automatically. To see the latest values, close and re-open these pop-ups. If you want bidding values or messages to update immediately or if for some reason the values are not updating automatically - clicking on the 'click here to refresh immediately' link is preferable to hitting the browser refresh button (or ctrl-R or F5) as it is much faster.
2. How can I be sure that bidding values are automatically updating? At the top of the 'Bidding Details', 'Live Auction Summary', 'Lots Nearing Close' and 'Lots Below Lower Estimate' pages, the exact time at which the page was last refreshed is displayed. If this time does not change every few seconds (the refresh interval is specified at the top of the page), please hit the 'click here to refresh immediately' link. Remember, clicking on the 'click here to refresh immediately' is preferable to hitting the browser refresh button (or ctrl-R or F5) as it is much faster.
3. Does bidding on a lot always close at the published closing time? No. In order to give all bidders sufficient time to place bids, bidding on a lot gets extended if a bid is placed within 2 minutes of the lot closing time. At this point, the countdown clock for that lot is reset to show 2 minutes. Following this initial reset, the countdown clock is again reset to 2 minutes each time a new bid is placed on that lot. The lot closes when there are no bids received in the final 2 minutes.
4. At closing, how much time should I should I allow for placing a bid?We recommend allowing at least 30 seconds to navigate to the 'Bidding Details' page by clicking 'Bid Now', and then to place and confirm your bid. If you have a slower internet connection, please allow yourself more time to place a bid at closing. Lot Groups will now close at 20 minute intervals as opposed to the previous 30 minute intervals. Remember there is no particular advantage to waiting till the final seconds to bid, as the countdown clock will get extended in any case to 2 minutes. |

5. How can I change the value of my proxy bids? You can raise or lower the value of your proxy bid on the 'Bidding Details' page by entering a new proxy value on the same lot. This will automatically replace your previous proxy with the new value entered. Note that if you are the highest bidder and you change your proxy value, your current bid will not be affected.
6. How do I stop my proxy bids? You can navigate to the 'My Proxy Bids' page by clicking on your Proxy amount ('Proxy: $/Rs XXX' shown on the 'Bidding Details' page, and then clicking on the 'Stop Proxy' button. You can also navigate to the same page by clicking on 'My Auction Gallery' in the left-navigation and then clicking on 'My Proxy Bids' at the top of the page.
7. Why can I only see the last five bids in the bid history section of the bidding page?On the 'Bidding Details' page, the most recent five bids are displayed at all times, and updated regularly along with the bidding values. To see the entire bid history, please hit the 'click to view all' link, just above the 'Bid History' box.
8. Why does the countdown clock not move when I hold my mouse over images on the filmstrip at the bottom of the 'Bidding Details' page? The time displayed on the "hovering" panel is the specific time at which you held your mouse over the image on the filmstrip, rather than a live countdown. To see the live countdown clock for a particular lot, you can click on its image in the filmstrip to go to its 'Bidding Details' page.
9. I placed a proxy on a lot, but cannot see it on my proxy bids pageOnly active proxies are shown on this page. If the proxy has been outbid, it will not show on this page. Also if bidding on a lot has closed it will not show on this page.
10. I placed a bid on a lot, but cannot see it on the my bids pageIf bidding on a lot has closed it will not show on this page
