BAJUBAND

The bajuband, or armband, is an accessory that has been present across centuries. Considered to be a symbol of wealth and power, they were primarily worn by Indian monarchs and women of the royal court. Bajubands were often set with jewels believed to have prophylactic powers - otherwise known as the navratnas, or nine stones - as in the present lot, and could be worn singly or in pairs, on one or both arms.
