A handwoven South Persian carpet, probably from the Khamseh or Afshar tribes.

The design is a nomadic tribal weaver's interpretation of the classical Persian 'garden carpet' composition with seven vertical rows representing flowerbeds full of various floral icons. Each row is separated from the other by a narrow water channel that is meant to irrigate the flowers while three narrow borders surround the garden - one decorated with stylised rosettes and the other two with colourful barber poles.
