Jivya Soma Mashe was awarded the Prince Claus Award in 2009 for his interventions in and resurrection of traditional Warli visual idioms. His works successfully fuse the traditional Warli world view with contemporary issues and life forms. His son, Balu Jivya Mashe, carries this legacy further. When they collaborate, father and son, produce beautifully detailed works.

In lots 46 and 73, the artists have translated, in painstaking detail, the beauty of a rice field. In the latter painting, the field encompasses the entire surface interspersed with birds and insects as well as a scare crow, while the former offers a birds eye view of the fields with the people working in them.
