Silver

20th century
Gujarat/Rajasthan

These two-part, hollow silver anklets, traditionally worn in Gujarat and Rajasthan, were used by both the men and women of the tribe. They were often included in the dowry set for a daughter, and the heavier the anklets, the richer the father of the bride was considered to be. These anklets have been known to weigh up to 2.5 kilograms each.
