Garuda the king of birds is the vahana of Vishnu and is one of the main animal deities in Hinduism. He is imagined to have a white face with the head and beak of an eagle, magnificent red wings, and a golden body with human limbs. According to legend, Garuda hatched from an egg. When he emerged from it, he was so brilliant that he was mistaken for Agni, the god of fire. Garuda is believed to have a strong abhorrence for evil and an aversion to snakes.
