The main thrust of Parekh's style has always been that of clear, scientific structure. She has always shown a marked preference for form and texture, which has allowed her to concentrate on these elements over colour and tone. Exploring the densities, opacity and transparency of inks and papers, she is fascinated by the life they take on when they come in contact, almost as if each animates the other. Using minimal colour, the artist's harmonious forms unfold a larger vision.

Writing about Parekh's works, Ashok Ahuja notes, "Manisha often works in series. Yet, the only narrative in her work seems to be the process of construction of the work. The many layers showing themselves under the surface, and the units neatly arranged seem to be "counting time". But the units are often individually complete in themselves. They are multiples and not sequences. Hers is not a casual world. In a non narrative discourse there is no strict sequence and therefore no consequence.
