James Earl Carter Jr. (born October 1, 1924) is widely regarded as America's finest ex-President. While he served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, his impact on the world has been much more substantial than the impact of his presidency.

Throughout his administration, Jimmy Carter kept a secret diary and made many notes each day. This is his personally annotated diary filled with insights into his presidency, his relationships with friends and foes, and his lasting impact on issues that still preoccupy America and the world. He gave candid appraisals of cabinet members, congressmen, and foreign leaders; he recounted the progress of secret discussions like as those that led to the Camp David Accords; and he documented his views, feelings, joys, and disappointments. When his four-year term came to an end in early 1981, the diary amounted to more than five thousand pages.

This book is the single most collectible work from the 39th President of the United States.
