Early work on two religious groups of India, the Hindu Bania (merchant caste) and the Zoroastrian Parsees, by Henry Lord who was the chaplain to the East India Company at Surat in Gujarat from 1624 to 1629.

The second part of the book explores the Parsi community and is one of the first accounts by the East India Company to do so when they first arrived ay Surat, India in 1608.
