The unique visual language of Hebbar's work stems from his deep grounding in the culture and traditional arts of Karnataka. His drawings and paintings typically focus on figures from village life, fisherfolk, Kathak dancers and folk musicians. Hebbar's art training in Mysore, Bombay and Paris introduces a unique blend of western art technique into his choice of fundamentally rural, Indian subject matter. Dr. H Meyer Prosperity (1980) was gifted to one of Dr. Meyer's children as a wedding present. Dr. Meyer wrote an introduction for the catalogue of Hebbar's 1987 exhibition Coups de Coeur in Geneva, in which Prosperity was included.
