Hase's aptitude for mathematics was evident from an early age, as he was the son of a mathematics instructor and was born in Augsburg. In 1701, he enrolled in the University of Helmstedt to study mathematics under Rudolf Christian Wagner. Subsequently, he transferred to the University of Leipzig to pursue a master's degree. In 1707, he returned to Augsburg to pursue a career as a teacher after earning his master's degree. Nevertheless, he promptly returned to Leipzig to assume the role of court tutor for two Augsburg patricians. He became more and more involved with geography, astronomy, and cartography as an adjunct to the philosophical faculty. Christian Wolff, his former professor, recommended Hase for the position of chair of advanced mathematics at the University of Wittenberg in 1715. However, Hase was ultimately rejected. However, five years later, in 1720, he was appointed Professor of Mathematics at the University of Wittenberg. It is uncertain when Hase began collaborating with the Homann Heirs firm; however, he compiled a plethora of maps under that imprint. He was also a prolific writer, having published numerous treatises on universal history. NON-EXPORTABLE
