William Wood was a naturalist and publisher in the first half of the 19th century. Wood published Zoography, a three-volume illustrated catalogue of specific plants, animals, and minerals, while employed as a surgeon in London. William Daniell was responsible for the illustrations, while Wood authored the text. Following the publication of this work and another concerning conchology, Wood swiftly gained recognition as a natural historian. By 1815, he had successfully established himself as a natural history-focused publisher and bookseller.
