This coloured lithograph published by Dickinson & Co. is taken from plate 12 of Sir Charles D'Oyly's Views of Calcutta and its Environs.

The original drawings for this work were likely created between 1833 and 1838 while D'Oyly was a Senior Member of the Board of Customs, Salt, and Opium and Marine Board in Calcutta. However, some of them must have been finalised between 1839 and 1845, when he retired. After D'Oyly's death in Italy...
