Something Beautiful for God is a biographical account of the life and work of Mother Teresa, the founder of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation that operates in over 130 countries worldwide.

Muggeridge was a British journalist and he first met Mother Teresa in 1968 while making a documentary about her work in Calcutta, India, and was deeply moved by her selfless dedication to serving the poor and destitute. The book, which is based on Muggeridge's personal experiences and observations, describes Mother Teresa's life and work, including her early years as a Loreto nun, her founding of the Missionaries of Charity, and her tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of the poor and sick in Calcutta and other parts of the world. He hails her as a "light which could never be extinguished."

Something Beautiful for God quickly became a bestseller and received critical acclaim for its vivid and inspiring portrayal of Mother Teresa and her mission. The book was later adapted into a documentary film of the same name, which was released in 1977 and directed by Muggeridge himself.

In 1979, after years of others promoting her candidacy, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Asked why she had decided to accept the award in person, she replied: “I am myself unworthy of the prize. I do not want it personally. But by this award the Norwegian people have recognized the existence of the poor. It is on their behalf that I have come.”

Something Beautiful for God is a powerful tribute to Mother Teresa's life and work, and is considered a classic work of religious and inspirational literature. It remains an influential work on the subject to this day and has helped to popularize the life and work of Mother Teresa around the world.

She was beatified as "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta" in October 2003.
