Most likely from the Varamin region of Iran (erstwhile Persia), this is a finely woven kilim carpet covered by a repeated pattern of serrated diamonds, each with a cruciform at the centre. The carpet has various motifs of bird heads and abstract human figures woven along the elegant and minimalistic mountain peak border.
