Fawzan Husain

a) Mr. Prime Minister - Dev Anand b) Mr. Hot, Mr. Cool - 2
Fawzan Husain’s photographs capture the polychromatic nature of everyday life, in both its physical and spiritual dimensions. With his subjects, ranging from the razzmatazz of Bollywood – the heartbeat of the Indian public – to the simple and habitual acts of prayer and eating, Husain manages to show us that colour exists in everything, no matter how bright or dreary the subject may be.

Dream-like silhouettes are seen in many of the artist’s photographic compositions, creating a sense of the world beyond the one we see and know – a world that appears unsure yet comforting. His photographs depicting the metropolises of Bombay and Bangalore interpret and portray the essence of both cities, allowing the viewer to experience the spirit that animates them.
Whether it is a community, a city or simply a scene that Husain is shooting, the light and depth in each impeccable shot reflects the real as well as the transcendental. With every repeated observation, one finds something new within the frame.
Fawzan Husain was born in 1965. He completed his Post Graduation in Journalism from the Bombay School of Journalism.
