DIAMOND BRACELET

Five-row lattice gold bracelet with alternating rows of full-cut and oval-shaped diamonds set in prongs surrounded by oval-shaped openwork gold frames. Each row slightly overlaps the adjacent row in an ascending fashion.

Diamond: 9.73 carats

The Greeks named diamonds adamas, which meant "hard" and "untameable." Famed for being the hardest material on earth, diamonds are formed a hundred miles beneath the earth under extreme pressure and heat. Diamonds have a long history of being coveted as jewels. In India, they were traded as early as the 4th century BC. By the 1400s, diamonds became fashionable among the European elite and have since been immortalized in both traditional and popular culture worldwide. A giant star, which is fifty light years from earth, and is actually a giant diamond of 10 billion trillion carats was recently discovered and named "Lucy."
