The forms, compositions, colours and themes are indicative of the artist's preoccupation with distinct artistic influences. He was deeply influenced by artists like Nandalal Bose during his time at Santiniketan, the traditional temple murals and lush surroundings of his early years in Kerala, miniature paintings and his recent interaction with the tribal in Rajasthan. His delicate watercolours, grand canvases and elaborate sculptures are reminiscent of aspects of classical Indian art. Nonetheless, his rendition of the subject matter is contemporary.

The present lot belongs to his recent works which are lyrical and joyous, teeming with a celebratory energy and evocative of myth and folklore. Nature plays an important role in his works, which he depicts in its lush abundance, teeming with abundant life force. Ella Dutta explains "As an artist, Ramachandran is not content to merely represent the world of natural phenomena as perceived by the human eye. He transposes the visible reality into tropes expressing a personal philosophy, an idealized vision of the world where the poor are indeed inheritors of the earth. Interestingly, in traditional Indian art such a vision of the natural environment was used as a metaphor for heavenly bliss" (Ella Dutta, Face to Face- Art Practice of A.
