ANATOLIAN "TULU" CARPET

There are black fabric patches on the back of the carpet to mark the top in case it is to be hung


This thick handwoven Anatolian 'Tulu' (meaning long-haired in Turkish) carpet comes from the Konya region of Turkey and was typically used by the shepherds living in the remote mountain areas of the Taurus range. The carpet depicts a starkly bold and beautiful tree of life on a lustrous golden wool field, framed by a range of mountain peaks around the perimeter of the carpet.
