S Sonpimpare

Born in Mumbai in 1969, Sanjeev Sonpimpare completed his Bachelor’s degree in painting at the Sir J.J. School of Art there in 1993, followed by a UNESCO-Aschberg Residency at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin in 2000. Initially practicing as an abstractionist, the artist soon turned to a representational vocabulary that underscored the struggles of life in India’s massive metropolitan cities.
