In 1874, his son Alfred Cartier took over the administration of the company. However, it was Alfred's three sons Louis, Pierre and Jacques, who were responsible for establishing Cartier as a world-respected jewelry and timepiece brand. While Louis headed the Paris branch, Pierre headed Cartier’s New York operations, and Jacques ran the London branch. After changing hands in the 1960s and early 1970s, these three Cartier branches were reunited under ‘Cartier Monde’ in 1979, the firm that oversees the company’s worldwide operations. Cartier is presently part of the Richemont Group.
