An unusually large format South Persian village carpet, probably woven by a Qashqai artisan. The brilliant dark red field panel is covered with numerous paisley boteh motifs symbolising the varied elements of the celestial universe. The botehs are created in random colours and shapes, giving beautiful visual dynamism to the composition. The rug is framed with three narrow borders containing interconnected scrolling
floral vines
