He participated in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, but fled Budapest in 1849 during the Austrian invasion. He arrived in England, from where he travelled further east to the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. This rare work was first published in Hungarian in 1853, and later translated into German, as seen in the present lot. The fine lithographs include six plates depicting Ceylon (Sri Lanka), five of India, three of Java (Indonesia), and one each of Hong Kong and Egypt. They chiefly portray scenes of big game hunting in progress, but there are also street views, court dancers, and encampment scenes. Andrsy also published another illustrated volume on hunting in 1857, after his return to Hungary, titled Hazai vadaszatok es sport Magyaroszagon (Domestic Hunting and Sport in Hungary) .
