Afshar rugs are woven by nomads and villagers residing between the cities of Shiraz, Kerman, and Yazd in southeastern Iran. These rugs, as most nomad rugs, are generally small. The rug is devised in a bold manner; the central field has two large flowers which has paisley for petals outlined with a deep indigo. The unusual style continues in the treatment of the border - to begin with, it is broader than the norm, it has the incandescent indigo in the background which sets off geometric floral motifs in varying shades of blue, brown with the odd leaf in orange.
