Popularly known as Dutch Bengal, works from this genre display an amalgam of Indian and western style of painting. A popular belief is that the painters of this style trained under iterant English and European painters who came to india to seek their fortune under and patronage of the western rulers. The distintive features of this style are the depiction of the trees, clouds and the face in the sky which draw from western sources.
